A Colorado Engagement With a Love That Feels Like the Universe Is In On It
The story behind the engagement is one of my favorite things as a Colorado wedding photographer. Anne and Trenton’s story is one of those where they had both reached the point of being done with dating. Trenton told himself he had one more date in him before hanging it up. Thankfully, that last one was Anne. They talked for about a month before actually meeting.
Their engagement happened only a few months later during a trip to Seattle for a Ragnar race. Trenton, in his own words, is much more of a gym bro who had slowly worked his way up to this whole running thing. I feel like it was definitely for her, and it became something they shared. Trenton knew he wanted to propose during the trip, but the original idea near the water never quite felt right. Instead, they ended up walking through this greenway that felt more like a little jungle, just the two of them being goofy and exploring.
At one point, Anne perched on a stump over the water and started joking that she felt like an owl. Apparently “owling” was actually a thing in the UK after the whole planking craze, which was news to me. Then, a little farther down the trail, they actually saw an owl! Trenton had never seen one before. Anne started talking about how it seemed like every time they went somewhere new together, something special happened. That was his moment. He asked if she wanted to keep doing that forever, got down on one knee, and they both started crying.
Serendipity means finding valuable, pleasant, or interesting things by chance.
I think love has a way of finding us in this universe, and this is one of those cases. At their sunrise engagement session at South Valley Park, the loving power between them was evident. I am so grateful to have witnessed it and to hear stories of hope like this one. I am really looking forward to their wedding celebration.
